Is There an App?Is there an ABC app?
Short answer
It depends which ABC service you mean. In the United States, ABC says its entertainment mobile and streaming-device apps are no longer available. In Australia, the ABC iview app remains available for Android and iOS, but app viewing is limited to Australia.
The US ABC entertainment app has closed
ABC's US support page says its mobile and streaming-device apps are no longer available. It directs viewers to ABC.com, a TV provider and other services such as Hulu for supported programming. ABC News and local-station apps are separate products and do not replace every function of the former entertainment app.
Australia has the ABC iview app
The Australian Broadcasting Corporation says ABC iview is available for Android and iOS phones and tablets. It also offers a separate ABC News app. The similar ABC name does not mean the US and Australian services share an app or catalog.
Country restrictions matter
ABC Australia says the iview app can be used only in Australia because of broadcast and rights agreements, although a curated selection may be available through the iview website outside Australia. Check the broadcaster, country and official domain before installing an app labeled ABC.
